Level 3 (NVQ) Diploma in Painting and Decorating
This qualification is for those who are already employed as Painters and Decorators and who wish to obtain further industry qualifications.
These qualifications are based solely on site in your chosen trade area.
You will produce an NVQ portfolio based on the work you complete whilst in employment.
Some of the units that you will complete are:
- Conform to general workplace safety
- Erect and dismantle access/working platforms
- Prepare surfaces for painting/decorating
- Apply paint systems by brush and roller
- Conform to efficient work practices
- Move and handle resources
- Airless spraying
- Decorative spraying
- Graining and replica marbling
Some of the above are mandatory units and others are optional.
More information will be available at enrolment onto the qualification.
You will be visited on site by a College Assessor who will assist you in gathering the needed evidence to prove competence in your area.
On site assessment only
Level 1/2 diploma in Decorative Occupations. Work Placement. Applicants with no formal qualifications but relevant work experience will be considered following a guidance interview.
Interview with a specialist tutor. Candidates are required to show enthusiasm and commitment to the course.

Are there any opportunities for progression?
All successful students may have the opportunity to progress onto HND or NHC with another college or progress to employment.
