Level 2 (NVQ) Diploma in Wood Occupations
This is a practical and theory based course which consists of the student/candidate working through a number of work related units following either a bench joinery or a site carpentry route.
This qualification is based solely on site in your chosen trade area. You will produce and NVQ portfolio based on the work you complete whilst in employment. Some of the assessment tasks are:
- Hanging doors etc.
The above units are a combination of Site and Bench. At Level 2 you will choose one route and stay with it for the duration of the whole qualification. Some of the above are mandatory units and others are optional. More information will be available at enrolment.
You will be visited on site by a College Assessor who will assist you in gathering the needed evidence to prove competence
Teaching is delivered through on site assessment in the workplace by a qualified assessor.
Applicants should have relevant industrial/commercial experience and be in suitable employment in the construction industry (site evidence). Successful outcome from assessment test and interview.
For applicants aged 16 – 24 NSPP have a range of vacancies available with employers, those without an employer will be given job seeking assistance by NSPP.
Interview with a specialist tutor. Candidates are required to show enthusiasm and commitment to the course.

How is the course assessed?
Continuous assessment throughout the course based on: Practical observation, Oral questioning, Portfolio evidence and Written assessment.
Are there any opportunities for progression?
All successful students may have the opportunity to progress onto NVQ Level 3 Wood Occupations through the work based evidence route.
Employment opportunities could include an apprenticeship in your chosen trade area.
