Level 3 (NVQ) Diploma in Trowel Occupations
An NVQ will enable the learner to acquire the knowledge and understanding that will help them to gain employment in the construction industry.
This qualification is based solely on site in your chosen trade area.
You will produce an NVQ portfolio based on the work you complete whilst in employment.
Some of the units that you will complete are:
- Confirm the occupational method of work
- Set out complex masonry structures
- Repair and maintain masonry structures
- Place and finish nonspecialist concrete
- Plaster and render surfaces
There are 10 units in total, some of the above are mandatory units and others are optional.
More information will be available to you at enrolment. You will be visited on site by an Assessor who will assist you in gathering the needed evidence to prove competence.
Level 2 NVQ or Level 2 Diploma. Relevant industrial/commercial experience and be in suitable employment in the construction industry (site evidence).
Interview with a specialist member of staff.
Candidates are required to show enthusiasm and commitment to the course.

How is the course assessed?
Practical assessment is continual throughout the course with job knowledge tests at the end of each unit.
Site evidence must also be produced.
Are there any opportunities for progression?
All successful students have the option to progress onto HND or HNC with another provider.
